Airport Cars Club is just being formed. The website just went online a few months ago. We have ads in AOPA pilot, Pilot Getaways, MAPA Log, the Cessna Flyer, and General Aviation News. More are planned in other aviation news and online venues. We have had articles published in General Aviation News, Pilot Getaways, MAPA Log, Cessna Flyer and AirVenture Today. We also had a booth at EAA AirVenture. The word is getting out and the club is growing quickly.
Check out the "Find a Car" page to see where the existing cars are. We are trying to grow our club quickly which is why we are offering free for one year membership to the first member at each airport.
Imagine being able to land at the smallest destination airport and have a car available. Using your aircraft for business or pleasure and not having to have your client or friend pick you up at the airport. Exploring an area for a day, and not having the expense of a rental car, assuming one was even available. Imagine using the FBO's computer to schedule one of those cars in their parking lot.
Imagine landing at your own "airport car" knowing that another responsible pilot had driven it the week before. The battery is fresh, the oil circulated, the rust is off the brake discs, and the tank was left full.
Imagine the increased utility of your aircraft, your own airport car and general aviation.
If you think this is a good idea, I need you to sign up now to help get our club off the ground. Why not? Membership is free and you can quit at any time. Why not apply today and help us form our club? Like the first telephone, fax machine or internet connection, someone has to be among the first.
Still not convinced? Send me the location of your airport car and up to 5 "destinations" where you would like to have a car available and I'll try to hook you up with other prospective members to give you the immediate utility you want.
Sincerely,
Steve Schell
